5 Holiday Essentials

What is actually in my travel makeup bag and what I actually use can be two completely different things. Over the Christmas period we were going away for 3 weeks and I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed. I mean, a girl needs to be ready for anything! Days on the beach or a night out requiring full glam is always on the cards. So of course I packed half my makeup stash, way more than a girl could use. But in reality, did I really use it all? Of course not! Will I pack like that again? Ah Yeah! But today I am sharing with you the holiday makeup essentials that I used nearly every day and would never leave home without again.

Holiday Makeup Essential 1 - Mascara

Being a summer holiday, swimming was a daily occurrence. So a good waterproof mascara was a must. No one wants to get out of the water with panda eyes! My favourite waterproof mascara is the Mac Giga lash as it gives length without bulk. Giving a great natural (but not) lash. The wand is nice and small so doesn't put mascara everywhere on my lid which I find some bigger wands tend to do. The small wand also makes for quick and easy application.

Holiday Makeup Essential 2 - Eyebrow Powder

My eyebrows need all the help they can get as they are quite patchy from years of over waxing. So I just can't live without my favourite eyebrow duo powder from Anastasia Beverly Hills. Perfect for filling in the gaps while still having a natural look. I use the colour Medium Brown as it is a gorgeous cool toned light brown. Perfect for me. The Best thing about Anastasia Beverly Hills brow powders? The huge colour range! Plus the pigment is just right. Not too heavy but also easy to apply. Anastasia is definitely the queen of eyebrows in my opinion.

Holiday Makeup Essential 3 - Lip Gloss

I don't use lip gloss very often.  When I am wearing a full face of makeup I love a good matte lipstick. But when I am going low key or not wearing makeup I love to wear lipgloss. My go to this holiday was the Leesa Bar Makeup Lipgloss in Beach Bum. I love Leesa's lipgloss as it smells amazing (it contains cinnamon, vanilla and coca butter) but it also has a natural SPF which protects my lips from the sun. It lives in my beach bag. (Would you believe I have a beach makeup bag within my beach bag?) The Leesa Barr lipgloss in Beach Bum* is exclusive to the Bracewell Clothing website, is Australian and tested on friends and family - not animals.

Holiday Makeup Essential 4 -  Concealer

Hi my name is Michelle, and I have dark circles....Yep and they aren't going anywhere. So I never leave the house without concealer. My current love has been the Leesa Barr Brighten up Concealer*. I have enjoyed this as it is slightly pink in colour and helps to make my under eyes look a little more awake.

I also have been wanting to try the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer. So while I was away I grabbed a tester, in the colour ginger, from Mecca. I really liked this for concealing a couple of old acne marks and on mornings when my under eyes where looking a little darker than the norm, over the top of my Brighten up Concealer to help cover them more. Looks like this one will be coming to join my makeup collection when the sample runs out.

Holiday Makeup Essential 5 - Liquid Highlighter

This step was not one I did for the beach. But if I was going anywhere I loved to add a little subtle daytime glam with a liquid highlighter to the tops of my cheeks, down my nose and of course my cupids bow and also the centre of my lips before (and sometimes after) applying my lip gloss. This was honestly my favourite step! My current favourite is the Leesa Bar Radiance Refine Highlighter*. This is such a pretty rose gold highlight but not over the top. Perfect for that subtle glow.

Of course there are other things I would always pack, like foundation and lipstick, just to name a few. However these items I wore pretty much everyday for a quick put together look and are perfect for travelling light. What would be the items you could not travel without?  xx
